Luxury car rental in Madrid from Zeus Prestige meets you at Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD), at your hotel, or wherever in the city suits you. Rent or hire a exotic, a supercar, a sports car or a luxury SUV and drive Castile yourself. Luxury car hire and exotic car rental in Madrid put a mountain pass, a royal monastery and a medieval capital each within an hour of the Gran Vía.
Philip II made Madrid his capital in 1561, and at around 650 metres it is among the highest capitals in Europe. The Plaza Mayor was finished in 1619. The Royal Palace, with more than 3,000 rooms, is the largest in western Europe. The Prado has shown Velázquez and Goya since 1819, and the Retiro park beside it joined the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2021. Round the corner from the Plaza Mayor, Botín has been roasting suckling pig since 1725.
Madrid keeps late hours. Vermouth before lunch, lunch at three, dinner at ten, and churros with chocolate for whoever is still up. The Salamanca district holds the boutiques along Calle Serrano, and the Gran Vía holds the lights. The sky is wide and very blue, and on a clear day the Sierra de Guadarrama shows on the northern horizon, white until spring. That is where the roads are.
Open the roof once the city thins out. The M-505 runs northwest for about 50 kilometres to San Lorenzo de El Escorial, where Philip II built his monastery and palace between 1563 and 1584, a vast granite rectangle that is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Beyond the town the same road climbs to the Puerto de la Cruz Verde in a run of open bends, a meeting place for Madrid's drivers and riders at weekends. Pine and warm granite scent the air, and the long downhill curves put a small lift in your stomach. Have lunch on a terrace facing the monastery. Then turn for home with the roof still open and the towers of the capital rising out of the plain ahead of the bonnet.
Sports cars and supercars belong on this one. Take the motorway north to Villalba and the M-601 up through pine forest to the Puerto de Navacerrada, 1,858 metres above sea level and under an hour from the city. Over the top, the road drops toward Segovia through the Siete Revueltas, seven hairpins stacked down the mountainside, and your heart rate rises as each one tightens. The forest opens at La Granja, where the Bourbon kings laid out a palace and gardens in the 18th century. Segovia is twenty minutes further, with a Roman aqueduct of more than 160 arches standing without mortar, and wood-roasted suckling pig for lunch. On the way back the car takes the seven bends uphill, which is the better direction.
Toledo rewards an unhurried car: a grand tourer, or a luxury SUV. The motorway south covers the 70 kilometres in under an hour, across the open plain of Castile. The city stands on a rock in a loop of the river Tagus, the capital of Spain before Madrid and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986, with a Gothic cathedral, two medieval synagogues and El Greco's paintings in the churches he made them for. Drive the ring road to the Mirador del Valle for the view he painted. Inside the car the air is cool, the cabin is hushed, and the leather smells faintly warm in the sun. It takes the heat and the distance in its stride and has you back in Madrid in time for a late dinner.

An exotic or a sports car suits the mountain passes of the Sierra de Guadarrama, a convertible suits the road to El Escorial, and days out to Toledo or longer journeys across Spain are easiest in a grand tourer or luxury SUV.
