Luxury car rental in Genoa starts where the sea meets the hills: Zeus Prestige delivers to Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport (GOA), to your hotel or to the harbour. Rent or hire an exotic, a convertible, a luxury SUV or a supercar and follow the Ligurian coast or the mountain valleys behind it. Exotic car rental in Genoa suits the Apennine roads inland, and convertible hire suits the shoreline east of the city.
Genoa was the capital of a maritime republic for more than seven centuries, from the 11th century until 1797, and Christopher Columbus was born here around 1451. The Bank of Saint George, founded in 1407, is described as the oldest known state deposit bank. The merchant families built the Strade Nuove and their Rolli palaces, inscribed by UNESCO in 2006, and Via Garibaldi still lines up Palazzo Rosso, Palazzo Bianco and Palazzo Doria-Tursi as museums.
The city lives around its port. The Lanterna lighthouse, 77 metres tall, can be seen from more than 30 kilometres out to sea, and the Porto Antico was reworked for the 1992 Columbian celebrations largely to Renzo Piano's designs, with an aquarium that counts among the largest in Europe. The cathedral of San Lorenzo, founded around 1098, wears black and white stripes, and at the end of Corso Italia the fishing cove of Boccadasse keeps its own small-town pace. Ferries from the old harbour carry passengers to Portofino, Camogli and the Cinque Terre.
Drop the roof and head east. Nervi marks the start of the Riviera di Levante, and the coast road follows the shore toward Camogli, on the western flank of the Portofino peninsula. Camogli earned the name city of a thousand white sails in its seafaring days, and by 1880 about 500 of its 12,000 residents were registered ship captains. The painted houses along the beach were once said to help fishermen find their way home. The sun warms the dashboard, the salt air drifts over the screen, and the car idles beside the water while you lunch on the harbour.
Turn inland with a sports car or supercar. The SS45 leaves Genoa and crosses the Apennine ridges before it meets the Trebbia, a river that rises near Monte Antola at about 800 metres and runs 118 kilometres to the Po. The road follows the water through beech forest and wide, braided channels toward Bobbio, where the high valley ends. Each bend tightens a little and your pulse rises with the revs. Turn round at Bobbio and let the descent back toward the sea set the pace.
Save the western coast for a relaxed GT or a roomy SUV. About 50 kilometres west of Genoa, Noli was an independent maritime republic from 1193 until 1797, and the towers it built in the Middle Ages still stand over the old streets. Above the town, Capo Noli looks down over the roofs of Noli and across the bay to Spotorno. The coast road runs smooth and quiet, the seats smell faintly of leather in the warm afternoon, and the car carries you home in comfort with the light fading over the water.
Yes. Cars are delivered to Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport (GOA) in Sestri Ponente, roughly 7 kilometres west of the city centre, and to hotels and the harbour. Private flights are covered too, as the airport has a private aviation terminal (ICAO LIMJ). Send your flight number and the car is ready when you land.
Choose a convertible for the Levante coast, something quick for the Trebbia valley, and a GT or roomy SUV for Noli and the road to Piedmont.
The A7 motorway between Genoa and Milan is about 135 kilometres long, crossing the Giovi pass on the way.
Camogli lies on the Portofino peninsula to the east, Noli about 50 kilometres to the west, and Bobbio in the Val Trebbia inland. Each suits a different car, so tell us your plans and we will help you choose.
Yes. The coast runs east toward Portofino and west toward the Riviera di Ponente, and the Apennine valleys start at the edge of the city.
